Ohio District Story: Bowling Green Supports Kinship Caregivers

Over 200,000 Ohio students come from kinship families. This important population of caregivers holds families together when faced with challenges of unexpected parental death, addiction, incarceration, neglect, or other serious challenges. Kinship caregivers such as grandparents benefit from meeting with school staff members and with other kinship caregivers. Research shows that when schools provide support groups for kinship caregivers, there are positive outcomes for students, staff, and families.
