What is family engagement?

A postcard style information sheet that has two sides. On one side, it says "Before...Meetings in school." and has images of parents running into a school building. On the other side, it says "After...Meeting families where they are." and has images of a variety of families in a variety of settings. At the bottom, it says "Let's change the way we think about engagement. Famengage.org"

Family engagement in education entails families, education programs, and community partners working together to help children and youth learn, grow and prepare for their future.

When we work well together, ALL children are launched to their full potential. What does it mean to work well together? Partnership includes communicating back and forth regularly between home and school. It also means actively figuring out the roles we can each play in supporting students’ learning, health/wellbeing, and future-planning. Finally, it involves finding strategic partners in our communities who can support us in our goals to launch our students’ success within and outside of the school environment!
